Going on a epicurean tour with all the Southern Tagalog Kulinarya Caravan
Discovering the food landscaping of a place is like discovering its internal. We get to know some sort of destination not only due to its beauty but also for the actual gastronomic adventures that a place has to offer to its readers.

And don’t need to go far to see this, as we found out quite a few in our The southern area of Tagalog Sojourn about two months previously.
Last April, I joined up with fellow travelers in addition to foodies in an organized tour called the Southern Tagalog Kulinarya Caravan. A culinary toured arranged by the Philippine Excursion Operators Association, the actual trip showcased not just the historical in addition to cultural spots connected with Southern Tagalog, but also the unique culinary offerings of this region.

Our very first stop was at Aguinaldo Shrine, our first passport stamps of the day. We started to the garden region of Aguinaldo Shrine for our Magdalo Breakfast. Many of us sampled some of the regional food of Kawit, that is believed to have been served during the gatherings on the Katipuneros of Cavite.
The Magdalo Breakfast has been interesting. Aside from the normal Tinapang Bangus, Salted Egg, Fried Grain and Longganisa, one astonishing dish that trapped my attention was Calandracas, a well known soup recipe in Cavite. Its taste reminded me of the traditional creamy sopas, besides without the macaroni ramen. Calandracas gets its organic sweetness from the pechay, potato, carrots and lead capture pages that it comes with.

Our breakfast was followed by a tour inside the Aguinaldo Shrine. Our tour guide, one of several immediate descendants involving Emilio Aguinaldo, showed us around the location. One of the highlights of our own tour was hearing the Spanish form of the Lupang Hinirang, which was played out while everyone was inside the beautiful house on the Aguinaldos.
St. Mary Magdalane Parish Church
After that, many of us went to St. Betty Magdalene Parish Church, which was simply a stone’s throw away through the shrine. Before we started with the tour, girls from a local business performed a beautiful Karakol dancing in front of us.

The Saint. Mary Magdalane Parish Church, regained after being destructed by the Philippine-American war, is a reported Historical Structure from the National Historical Percentage of the Philippines and it’s considered one of the most beautiful Roman Catholic church buildings in Cavite. General Emilio Aguinaldo, obama of the First Philippine Republic was baptized in this cathedral in 1969.
After visiting the Kawit Community center, we proceeded for you to Rosario town in Cavite to travel to one of the makers from the famous Salinas Tinapa. Rosario is down the coastal area of Cavite, making it a top producer of marine products.
Here, you will discover fishponds teeming with bangus, tilapia, crabs, prawns as well as other kinds of cultured seafoods. Aside from cultured fish, Rosario also produces Tinapang Salinas or smoked fish. A small barangay in Rosario started this particular exceptional way of tinapa handling, making Rosario known as the Used Fish Capital regarding Cavite.
Seeing more of Cavite towns and it is rich culture
After seeing creating Salinas Tinapa, the caravan proceeded to help Tejeros Casa Hacienda. This hacienda may be known in history books as the site of the Tejeros Tradition, where General Emilio Aguinaldo was elected President.
We visited the area, including the destroys of the old building, with underground tunnels that historians declare were used as avoid routes during the conflict.

After our own short tour with Casa Hacienda de Tejeros, many of us sampled their local pancit and my newly discovered favorite Puto Rosario. This unique form of puto is also known as Bibingkang Salinas, becasue it is made of thick brown rice cake topped using cheese and salted ovum – just like the favored Christmas merienda treat.
After Rosario, this caravan’s next stop was the Holy Combination Parish Church and Convent with Tanza. Also known as Tanza Church, the Holy Cross Parish guaranteed its place in Filipino history when Normal Emilio Aguinaldo and General Mariano Trias got their oaths here as President and Vice-President of the Filipino Revolutionary Government within 1897.
Declared as a national traditional landmark, the convent beside the church has a life-size exhibit immortalising Aguinaldo and his adult males being sworn in previous to a crucifix. The three first church bells, broken and damage on account of age, are displayed outside the convent.
We then they proceeded to our second stop for our passport creating – the new Indang City Hall, recently created and facing an attractive view of the town. This town of Indang is famous for it is Kalamay Buna, a thin version of Kalamay famously made in Brgy. Buna Lejos.

Lunch was served from Balai Indang, where they given us with back garden salad, roast meat, chicken barbeque, planting season rolls. Ending our own meals on a special note, we had pears caramelized in sugar.
Arroz Caldo connected with Nurture Spa Village
Our very last stop was this Nurture Spa in Tagaytay City, where all of us went on a short trip of their herbs and spice garden. Later on, we were served a steaming bowl in their famous Arros Caldo, a popular Spanish-inspired Pinoy porridge which might be enjoyed any time for the day. Perfect for the chilly Tagaytay weather!
It was virtually dawn when we they proceeded to our respective lodging to leave our baggage and head to Inn Monticello for our Bulalo Dinner. This hotel’s version of Bulalo was actually good; not boating in oil since the meat is segregated from the broth.
After dinner, we headed to our respective motels to rest and prepare for each of our early morning call time period. More adventure is waiting for our next day!
